All students attending Allan Hancock College for the first time this fall are required to attend an orientation. “Mega” orientations will be held July 19 and Aug. 10 at the Santa Maria campus and Aug. 11 at the Lompoc Valley Center. One-hour events are scheduled for various dates and times July 28 through Sept. 1.

All orientations will provide necessary information about valuable college services, including counseling, financial aid, health services, job opportunities and more. The Mega Orientations will offer added benefits, including an opportunity to meet key faculty and staff, tour the campus and receive a free academic planner and prizes.

“Our goal is to ensure that all students begin college with the information they need to succeed,” said Yvonne Teniente-Cuello, chair of counseling at the college. “We pack a lot of information into these sessions. Our research tells us that those who participate in an orientation like this have much higher retention rates—meaning they stay the course and achieve their goals.”

The Santa Maria campus Mega Orientations on July 19 and Aug. 10 will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 noon in the Marian Theatre located inside the Performing Arts Center, building D.

The Lompoc Valley Center Mega Orientation on Aug. 11 will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the LVC Courtyard.
